Why we built this

Insurance Rate Guard exists because most car insurance comparison sites don't actually compare carriers. They rank whichever brand pays for the top spot, and call it editorial. The result is a "best carrier" list that rotates with the highest bidder.

We track every public rate filing approved by state insurance commissioners and write what we find, even when it's unflattering. Our editorial reviews aren't paid placements. We don't promise the lowest rate, we promise honest research, and we tell you when a carrier we like just filed a 19% increase in your state.

Frequently asked

How do you choose which carriers to review?

We review every major US auto insurer and the regional carriers that show up in our readers' rate-filing tracking. Our reviews aren't pay-to-play. Carriers can't buy higher placements.

Where does your rate data come from?

Every rate change we track comes from public filings approved by state insurance commissioners. We use SERFF, the system insurers actually file through, plus NAIC complaint data and J.D. Power satisfaction studies.

Do you sell my information to insurance carriers?

We don't sell your personal data. If you use a quote form on the site, the form is operated by a partner under their privacy policy, and the carriers shown are matched to the profile you submit. We never share data outside that quote flow.

How often is your data updated?

Rate filings refresh weekly from state regulators. Carrier reviews update on a quarterly cadence or when material filings hit. Our state guides update as new state requirements take effect.

Why do you publish in Spanish?

About 14% of US drivers are native Spanish speakers, and most insurance comparison content in Spanish is machine-translated. We write Spanish content from scratch, not run English through Google Translate.
